Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL)

Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL). Lithotripsy uses sound waves to break up the stones into smaller pieces. These sound waves are also called high energy shock waves. It is done under sedation and the patient can go home on the same day. It can break stones up to 1.5 to 2cm.
